GOUNI EXTENDS BORDERS...
An Igbo adage says, "When a child washes his hands clean, he eats with the elders". This adage could be
interpreted in many ways in context. One school of thought holds that when a younger person works
hard and achieves greatness, he is treated as a mature person:
Another school of thought says when a younger person reasons and behaves like a mature adult,
demonstrating wisdom and maturity in conduct, he is received into the council of elders. Guided by the
wisdom of the elders, the younger person is assisted to grow stronger in thought, in wisdom, in
knowledge and to become an inspiration and a role model for others, especially among his peers.
This could be true for Godfrey Okoye University that within 7 years of its existence, it has landmarks in
the area of infrastructural development, human capacity and empowerment, innovations, inventions as
well as in academic growth and prowess.
The Institution is making waves in biotechnology and agriculture with a vast demonstration farm at the
Ugwuomu Nike Campus. The Chinua Achebe Centre for Literary Studies is a unique thrust in the area of
academics. It has been in the forefront of scientific breakthroughs with the production of hand sanitizers
during the heat of the Ebola virus and an excavator to show among its other innovations.
In recognition, of these laudable strides, many renowned tertiary institutions within and outside
the country have partnered with Godfrey Okoye University for exchange of research and teaching
materials and scholars and students for study tours. Some of these partner Universities in the United
States, Austria, South Africa, United Kingdom have continued to expand their scope with GOU.
Recently, agreement for partnership with Pontifical Lateran University Rome was endorsed by the
Rector of the University, Archbishop Professor Enrico Dal Covolo and the Vice Chancellor of Godfrey
Okoye University Enugu, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke.
This new addition to the list of partner institutions extends beyond promoting teaching and learning to
incorporate exchange of scholars, students, teaching materials and research and other areas of common
interest in the development of education and students.
The Vice Chancellor advised those seeking quality University education to join Godfrey Okoye
University and benefit from the partnership and other programmes.
