₦45 Million, 1st Place, and a Message That Matters

Godfrey Okoye University has once again shown what it means to lead with both excellence and heart, emerging 1st at the 2025 Cathedraticum and donating an impressive ₦45 million to support the Diocese at the 2026 Cathedraticum held at the Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu.

The announcement, made by the Diocesan Financial Administrator, Very Rev. Fr. Sylvanus Ugwu, drew admiration from the faithful gathered.

Led by the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, the University community, including principal officers, priests, staff, and students,  presented the donation to the Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Callistus Onaga, in a moment that reflected unity, sacrifice, and commitment.

Holy Trinity Parish and Christ the King Parish also stood out, emerging as first and second runners-up respectively.

But beyond the celebration, the Bishop’s message struck deeper:

A new directive extending burial rites from 4 weeks to 8 weeks, ensuring dignity and proper preparation for families.

A call to reject dishonesty and return to sincere Christian living.

An encouragement to pray the Rosary and follow the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

A reminder that every faithful member is a “foot soldier of Christ.”

A push towards farming and self-sufficiency in response to rising food costs.

It was more than an event. It was a moment of reflection, responsibility, and renewed faith.

Godfrey Okoye University continues to shine as a beacon of impact, in faith, in service, and in society.
