10th Annual Youth Peace Conference 2022
The annual Youth Peace Conference hosted by Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu will henceforth be known as Sister Prof MaryGloria Njoku Peace Conference.
Correspondent, Godwin Umeh reports that the Vice Chancellor of the university, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke announced this while declaring open this year’s youth peace conference.
Rev. Fr. Prof. Anieke explained that the change is to further immortalize the late Professor of psychology, MaryGloria Njoku.
The Vice Chancellor noted that since its inception the peace had brought many personnel and schools to the university and gave the participants the opportunity to reflect on peace initiative and actions that promote peace in the schools and society.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the conference inspired young students to form peace clubs and initiatives. He reminded Nigerians that it was only a person that has peace that can give peace.
In a paper, the keynote speaker, and member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Chief Chima Obieze reminded Nigerians that forced peace is no peace, stressing that there must be justice and fair play for peace to reign.
The highpoint of the conference was the conferment of Peace Champion Award on the Dean School of Postgraduate Studies, Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, Prof. Aaron Eze, spoken words and presentations to some individuals and organizations.
The conference was attended by students of secondary schools in Enugu and officials of the university as well as friends of the institution.
