Godfrey Okoye University partners with the ICPMD, EU and Private Investors to establish Institute of Practical Skills and Start-up Centre.

The Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University signs an MoU with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) for the building of an Institute of Practical Skills and Start up Centre at Godfrey Okoye University.

The Multi million Euro project, which has Andreas Gebebauer as project Director and Manfred Jaeger as the Architect, is promoted by the Director of ICMPD, Dr. Michael Spendelegger.

The plan is to train 1000 Nigerians in different practical skills and make startup funds available to them when they have acquired the skills to enable them start their own business or company. At least 300 hundred women must be among the trainees.

Also, there will be an Industrial park close to the Centre where about 10 companies will be established to provide the practical training to the trainees as well as do their businesses and carry out their productions.

The Centre will help reduce the influx of Nigerians to Europe and provide jobs to those who willingly return from Europe. The project is expected to commence before the end of this year.

Clearly, this pilot project in Nigeria has placed Godfrey Okoye University on the front burner, way ahead of its contemporaries and on the international map.
