Update from GO Uni Radio 106.9fm Enugu quiz competition flag-off!
We are delighted to share the inspiring remarks made by the Vice Chancellor, Rev Fr. Prof Christian Anieke, during the flagging off of a quiz competition for primary and secondary schools under the Catholic Diocese Enugu. Held at the prestigious Justice Cordialia Chukwura Convocation Arena Hall, Thinkers Corner Enugu, this event marked a significant step towards nurturing the educational journey of young minds.
Rev Fr. Prof Anieke rightly described Nursery, Primary, and Secondary schools as the Foundation and Future of Tertiary Education. He emphasized the crucial role of quiz competitions in broadening students’ knowledge and sharpening their minds for academic excellence. His words echoed the importance of instilling a love for learning at an early age, lamenting the declining reading habits among students and urging them to embrace the habit of reading as a means of expanding their horizons
It was heartening to witness young students representing their schools with enthusiasm and confidence, knowing that such experiences will have a direct positive impact on their future.
Rev Fr. Prof Ikechukwu Ani, Secretary of the Enugu State Catholic Education Board, commended the quiz competition as a valuable tool for building boldness and refining students’ knowledge.
Lady Jane Ndukwe, Director of the Directorate of Students and Parent Relationship at Godfrey Okoye University delivered a compelling keynote address titled “Reviving the Reading Culture, Igniting a Passion for Literacy.” She highlighted the transformative power of reading, emphasizing its role in broadening horizons, igniting imagination, and improving spoken and written skills.
A special mention goes to the visionary team behind GOUni Radio 106.9fm, whose dedication and progressive mindset have made this quiz program a reality.
Rev Fr. Benjamin Achi, the station manager and the Director of Communications, Godfrey Okoye University, expressed his joy at seeing the fruition of this initiative, which was conceived as a brainchild of the station in 2023.
He extended his heartfelt gratitude to the CEO, Rev Fr Prof Christian Anieke, for his unwavering support and approval, as well as to the entire Go UniRadio team for their tireless efforts in bringing this program to life. Special mention to Miss Linda Ejiofor and Mrs Uchanta Chukwu (Coordinator of Competitions) for their commitment towards the realisation of this dream.
