Enhancing Architectural Education at Godfrey Okoye University
Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu is embarking on an exciting journey to elevate the role of its Department of Architecture within our institution. Under the visionary leadership of Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, our Vice Chancellor, we are dedicated to deeply integrating architectural studies into the development fabric of our main campus at Ugwuomu Nike, Enugu.
During a recent visit from the Architect Registration Council of Nigeria, Reverend Father Professor Anieke articulated the university’s commitment to relocating the Department of Architecture to our main campus. This strategic move aims to empower our students to actively engage in and contribute to executing of structural projects across the campus.
Moreover, we are grateful for the steadfast support from the Enugu State Government, which continues to bolster the ongoing development of our main campus.
Architect Ifeanyi T. H. Nnaobi, leader of the accreditation team, emphasized that the accreditation process is not merely evaluative but serves to ensure that institutions offering architecture meet rigorous standards of education and practice.
Recognizing our rapid growth trajectory, the accreditation team also proposed the establishment of a dedicated Faculty of Architecture at Godfrey Okoye University. This initiative seeks to further enrich our academic offerings and strengthen our position as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing universities.
We are immensely proud of the exemplary discipline and dedication exhibited by our students, qualities that were commendably noted by our esteemed guests during their visit.
Principal Officers and faculty members from the Department of Architecture joined Reverend Father Professor Anieke in warmly welcoming the accreditation team, underscoring our collective commitment to excellence in architectural education and practice.
