Godfrey Okoye University Honoured For Outstanding Leadership And Academic Achievements
The Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, has been honoured with the prestigious Integrity Icon of Nigeria Award, recognizing his exemplary leadership and commitment to ethical values.
The university also received accolades as the best private university east of the Niger and 3rd best in Nigeria, a testament to its dedication to academic excellence and community service.
The Centre for Ethics and National Value Orientation, a non-governmental organization based in Lokoja, Kogi State, conferred the awards during a visit to the university. The Executive Director, Salli Yakubu, led the delegation.
Reverend Father Professor Anieke emphasized that universities exist for three main reasons: to conduct research, teach, and offer community service, stressing that ethics are essential to these functions. He also highlighted the university’s establishment of a Directorate of Ethics with links to its headquarters in Geneva.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Gozie Ogbodo, expressed gratitude on behalf of the university, acknowledging that the awards are a sign of appreciation from Nigerians and humanity for the services rendered by Godfrey Okoye University Enugu.
