Godfrey Okoye University Begins New Academic Session with Renewed Visions and Plans!
In a special Holy Mass marking the official opening of the 2024-2025 academic session, our esteemed Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, shared exciting updates about the university’s plans for the coming year.
Contributory Pension Scheme: About 60% of workers at Godfrey Okoye University will be registered under the university’s contributory pension scheme during this session.
Student Admissions: The university aims to admit approximately 1,500 new students, bringing in fresh talent and energy to our ever-growing campus.
Revenue Generation: Departments are encouraged to generate revenue through grants and other innovative means—no additional levies on students!
Research Focus: Emphasis on research is a major part of our postgraduate programme, with plans to redesign the Research Directorate to foster a greater interest in research among our staff.
Sustainable Campus Initiatives: To improve campus life and reduce electricity costs, all hostels will be powered by solar lights. Additionally, we are working to install WiFi in all hostels, allowing students to study comfortably at night.
Expansion of Schools: The university’s nursery, primary, and secondary schools are being expanded, and a Crèche is being established to assist nursing mothers.
Monitoring Vision 2024-2025: A team of experts has been set up to monitor the implementation of the university’s vision and mission for this session, ensuring progress and accountability.
Investing in Competitions: Reverend Father Professor Anieke urged all students to develop a spirit of competition, as we plan to invest more in competitions and activities that challenge and inspire our students.
Let’s make this academic session one filled with growth, innovation, and excellence!
