Congratulations to the Champions of the 2024 GOUNI Marathon!
The Godfrey Okoye University Marathon has come to a thrilling close, celebrating the exceptional talents of our students and local athletes!
We’re thrilled to announce that Pascal Chukwuebuka Onyia and Esther Afigbo have emerged as the top winners in the male and female categories, each taking home the grand prize of ₦500,000 presented by our Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke!
Runners-Up: Francis Chiedozie Chukwu and Happiness Eze, each awarded ₦200,000.
Third Place: Vintus Kelechi Egu and Genevieve Odinaka, receiving ₦100,000.
Consolation Prizes were given to those who placed 4th to 20th.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted that this marathon not only connects our Thinkers Corner and Ugwuomu campuses but also helps discover budding talents and engage our youth meaningfully.
Special thanks to our sponsor, Mr. Nnamdi Ozor, CEO of Tribu Hotel, Thinkers Corner Enugu, for his support in building a platform to nurture future international athletes!
We’re also acknowledge Queen’s School, Nsukka, whose students showed an impressive turnout, claiming several awards, including the 2nd prize for female participants. Their coach, Mr. Anthony Attama, expressed gratitude, as this event opens doors for their young athletes to compete nationally and internationally.
