GoUni walks away from ANUDC 2025 with a medal in hand and a proud place among the Top 10 Speakers nationwide.

At the just concluded 12th edition of the All Nigerian Universities Debate Championship (ANUDC), hosted by the University of Ilorin from August 24th to 30th, Godfrey Okoye University stood out in a tournament regarded as the largest and most competitive intellectual event in the country.

With over 64 universities and more than 200 speakers in attendance, the championship brought together the best of Nigeria’s debating and public speaking talents. Despite being relatively new to the world of British Parliamentary (BP) debating and public speaking, GoUni’s representatives showed resilience, intelligence, and grit, going head-to-head with universities that have been part of the circuit since its inception.

Our achievements at ANUDC 2025:

The GoUni Quiz Team — Azubuike Mary Nkenna, Deborah Febechukwu Ogbonna, and Obialor Agape Love held their ground through several tough rounds and proudly finished in 5th place nationally.

The GoUni Debate Team of Ogbonna Donald Ugochukwu and Onyia Freda delivered a brilliant run and broke into the quarter-finals, competing strongly against some of the finest debaters in the country.

Favour Egbogu delivered a remarkable performance in the Public Speaking category, breaking into the finals and earning a medal as one of the Top 10 Speakers of the entire tournament.

Our Novice Adjudicator, Rev. Sister Vivian Onwuka also broke through and gained recognition in the adjudication category, a major accomplishment for a first-time judge on such a grand stage.

This outing has placed Godfrey Okoye University firmly among the nation’s rising intellectual powerhouses. Competing against the biggest names in Nigerian debating and still making it to the advanced rounds is proof of the growing strength and promise of our debate, quiz, and public speaking teams.

This is only the beginning. GoUni is here to stay, and the future looks even brighter.
