Dr. Chijioke Edward is a linguist and scholar of English whose work focuses on sociolinguistics, identity construction, discourse analysis, and media studies. He holds a Ph.D. in English and Literary Studies from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, along with an M.A. and B.A. in English and Literary Studies, and an NCE in English.
He teaches courses in vocabulary development, spoken English, comparative linguistics, semiotics, and research methods, and has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate projects. His publications address topics such as identity construction, media discourse, language death in virtual spaces, and communicative approaches to ESL. He is also the author of The Stubborn Fly and Other Stories.
As Head of Department, he has advanced curriculum reforms, fostered creative writing and research circles, and contributed to academic development through conference presentations and leadership roles. He is a Fellow of the English Scholars Association of Nigeria (ESAN) and the Pragmatics Association of Nigeria (PRAM).
