ELUMERIA BECKLEY OGHENEMARO

B.A. Music, 2015–2019

During my time in Godfrey Okoye University, Music Department, I participated in choral groups, musicianship studies, theory, ethnomusicology, performance, performed in university concerts/festivals, and departmental band. It was a once in a lifetime experience. Gouni is a university that invests in the educational journey of students.

The lecturers were generally supportive and passionate about individual student’s academic development and success. Late. Prof. R.C Okafor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Dr. Basil Okeke, Dr. Sir. Joe Onyekwelu, Sir. Tee, to name a few, encouraged creativity, musicianship, and discipline in their teaching approach. Overall, their attitude was encouraging and mentorship-oriented.

The knowledge and skills I acquired in composition, performance study, and music theory have been invaluable in my current role as a band leader, music teacher, and composer. The musical formation received has helped me become a mature and effective music leader and trainer of others.
