Alumni Spotlight: Ihuoma MaryJane Ihenacho!

At Godfrey Okoye University, we take pride in celebrating trailblazers whose journeys inspire generations. One such shining light is Ihuoma MaryJane Ihenacho, a native of Umuapu in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area.

Ihuoma made history as the first student to graduate with a First Class from the Faculty of Law, and she held that record as the only First Class student for two consecutive years. She was not only an outstanding scholar but also a campus leader, serving as the first Vice President of her department, President of St. Anthony Group, and an active member of the Vice Chancellor’s Debate Club and the Lay Readers Association at the Ominum Santorum Chaplaincy.

Internationally, she represented the university as a two-time team leader at the Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenges in Miami and Geneva, where her teams won the Best Oral Presentation and Best Teamwork awards.

Her brilliance carried on to the Nigerian Law School, where she distinguished herself as:

A First Class graduate, one of only two from Godfrey Okoye University’s delegation of 50 students.

2nd place in the Lagos Campus Prebar MCQ exams out of 1,500 students.

Ranked 11th nationwide out of 7,134 students, placing her in the top 0.2% of her class.

As a budding scholar, she co-authored a paper in the ENBAR Law Journal (Vol. 3) on Governor’s Power of Revocation under Nigerian Law. Her excellence has been rewarded with the Shell SPDC JV Scholarship, and today she continues to excel as a Master’s student in Technology Law at Nottingham Trent University, UK, supported by the prestigious NTU Excellence Scholarship.
