CELEBRATING GLOBAL EXCELLENCE | A PROUD MOMENT FOR GOUNI & NIGERIA

Godfrey Okoye University proudly celebrates one of Nigeria’s finest medical minds, Dr. Henrietta N. Ukwu, on her induction into the prestigious Marquis Who’s Who Biographical registry.

From her early days as a medical student in Nigeria to her current role as Executive Vice President and Chief Regulatory Officer at Novavax Inc., Dr. Ukwu’s journey reflects what vision, discipline, and service to humanity can achieve. She has played defining roles in global health history, including leading the FDA approval of Crixivan, a breakthrough HIV/AIDS drug, and contributing significantly to the Emergency Use Authorization of the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine during the height of the pandemic. Over the years, she has overseen the approval of more than 30 new drugs and biologics while holding leadership positions at global pharmaceutical leaders such as Merck, Pfizer, and Otsuka.

Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Ukwu remains deeply connected to her roots. Through philanthropic efforts with her family, she has supported access to clean water, solar street lighting, and improved infrastructure in her home community. She has also expressed her desire to give back directly to Nigeria’s public health system, underscoring a lifelong commitment to service.

An accomplished author, mentor, and mother of three doctors, Dr. Ukwu stands as a powerful example to students of the College of Medicine and the Faculty of Science that a Nigerian education can serve as a gateway to global impact.

Godfrey Okoye University congratulates Dr. Henrietta N. Ukwu (MD, FACP, FRAPS) on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates her as a beacon of excellence and inspiration for the next generation of African leaders.
