Celebrating the graduating final-year students of Godfrey Okoye University, the Institute of Caregiving, and our Nursery and Primary School at a beautiful Thanksgiving Mass.

A Thanksgiving Mass held at the Omnium Sanctorum Chaplaincy, Thinkers Corner, Enugu, officially marked a beautiful celebration for the graduating final-year students of Godfrey Okoye University, the students of the Institute of Caregiving, and pupils of the Nursery and Primary School.

Delivering the homily during the service, the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke described the graduates as the light and salt of the earth. He reminded them that the university had carefully nurtured them academically, morally, and spiritually, urging them to guard the values of hard work, courage, academic excellence, and integrity planted in them during their studies. The Vice-Chancellor went on to challenge the caregiving graduates to render selfless service to the elderly and vulnerable while also commending the nursery and primary pupils for their impressive linguistic abilities.

In a special appreciation, the Vice-Chancellor commended the teachers, lecturers, and directors whose hard work, discipline, and tutelage made the students’ success possible. Expressing gratitude on behalf of the graduating class, the President of the Student Council of Honour thanked the chaplaincy and parishioners for their unwavering support throughout their academic journey.

The celebration continued at the Justice Cordial Convocation Arena, Thinkers Corner, where a reception was held in honour of the graduates. The event drew several notable dignitaries, including the Enugu State Commissioner for Housing, Engr. Gerald Otiji, alongside principal officers, deans, heads of departments, and lecturers of the university.

Addressing the students at the reception, Engr. Gerald Otiji advised the graduates to explore the world, maintain self-belief, pay close attention to details, and boldly seize every opportunity life presents. Additional words of wisdom came from the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Okey Omeh, who counselled the students to exhibit humility and environmental sensitivity as they enter the larger community. Furthermore, Mrs. Ruby Udemadu, convener of the Doorstep Trade Fair, encouraged the graduates to stay resilient through challenges, while Mass Communication alumna, Miss Chukwu Vanessa Chinaza, shared inspiring insights from her NYSC experience, advising them to enjoy every moment of their upcoming service year.

As these worthy ambassadors step into the next phase of their lives, the entire Godfrey Okoye University community remains confident that they will continue to shine brightly and conquer the world with confidence.
