It was a great day for the people of Ugwuomu Nike and greater day for Godfrey Okoye University. Highlights were cutting of the ribbon at the Main Campus of GOU by the Governor, speeches by the Vice Chancellor of GOU, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, Rep of Bishop Onaga, Rev. Fr. Geoffrey Akilo, GOU BOT Chairman, Prof. Bartho Okolo, Chairman Enugu East LGA, Alex Ugwu and President of the Ugwuomu Nike Development Union, Felix Nnayelugo Nnamani; cultural displays and so much more.

Others present at the commissioning were the Principal Officers and Senior Management Team of GOU, former Chairman, GOU Governing Council, Prof. Joseph Chidobem, Igwe Of Ugwuomu, Ikeoha of Mbuluanwuli, House of Rep. member representing Enugu East, Cornelius Nnaji, Commissioner of Works, Enugu State, Greg Nnaji and other government officials.
