Dear Members of the University Community,
As part of our monthly cybersecurity awareness initiative, March focuses on protecting ourselves against phishing and online scams.
Cybercriminals are increasingly targeting universities with deceptive emails, fake scholarship offers, WhatsApp impersonation messages, and AI-generated communications that appear legitimate.
Before clicking any link or opening attachments, please:
– Verify the sender’s email address carefully
– Be cautious of urgent or threatening language
– Avoid sharing login credentials via email or messaging apps
– Confirm unusual requests through official university channels
Remember, attackers rely on urgency and curiosity. Taking a few seconds to verify a message can prevent serious security incidents.
If you receive a suspicious email or message, do not click any links. Report it immediately to the GOUNI ICT Cybersecurity Awareness Unit.
