Godfrey Okoye University Enugu is a private university belonging to the Catholic  Diocese of Enugu, Nigeria. It is the first university established by a Catholic Diocese in Africa. The university received its operational licence from the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2009, and so commenced full academic activities in the 2009/2010 academic session with two faculties and with 214 students. Currently, it offers undergraduate programmes in five faculties: Arts, Education, Law, Management and Social Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences. All the programmes have NUC accreditation. The university’s law faculty also has the approval of the Legal Council of Education. The university also runs postgraduate programmes in Education, Management and Social Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences. The university is committed especially to values that enable the achievment of academic excellence, integration of learning and character, religious, cultural and epistemological dialogue, ready access to prayers and blessings, availability of highly qualified staff, training of employable graduates, exchange programmes with foreign partner univesities, elaborate mentorship programme, serene and cult-free environment and respect for individuals of varies background. The university has produced sets of graduates who were all successfully mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme in their year of graduation. Godfrey Okoye  university Enugu is rightly called God’s own university. Within less than ten years, it has admitted more than three thousand students and will soon transfer some of its faculties to the permanent site at Ugwuomu-Nike Enugu. To the glory of God!
