Godfrey Okoye University is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of one of its outstanding alumni, Dr. Emmanuel Mbahotu, a 27-year-old medical prodigy currently at the Department of Cardiology, Pirogov University, Russia.
Dr. Mbahotu is set to launch a pioneering research initiative focused on microvascular angina, aimed at addressing the causes, early predictors, and prevention of heart attacks. The research will be conducted in collaboration with his supervisor and Head of Department, Prof. Alexander Shevchenko.
Speaking on the project, Dr. Mbahotu explained: “At the moment, I’m starting work this August on researching microvascular angina with my supervisor. This research will help predict precursors and future complications surrounding the condition.”
In December 2024, he and Prof. Shevchenko presented a significant study on acute coronary syndrome in young adults, a growing concern in Nigeria and globally.
Last year, Dr. Mbahotu was awarded a prestigious scholarship at the Russian National Medical Research University, Moscow, where he is specialising in heart surgery.
