The National Universities Commission (NUC), in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), and the Institute of Medical Research & Training, University of Ilorin, has included our university in a major national project.
The project focuses on assessing Nigeria’s health workforce pre-service training. Its aim is to identify gaps in training, understand resource and capacity limitations, estimate the cost of producing a skilled health workforce, and ultimately strengthen the country’s healthcare system.
In a letter dated 1st July, 2025, the NUC conveyed the request from the Ministry of Health for universities like ours to assist in this process by supporting smooth data collection and providing the necessary cooperation.
This recognition reflects the growing role of Godfrey Okoye University in shaping not only the future of education but also the health sector in Nigeria. We are proud to contribute to this important national effort and reaffirm our commitment to building capacity, bridging training gaps, and serving the common good.
