Godfrey Okoye University Holds Its First Consolidated Induction Ceremony

Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, has held its 1st Consolidated Induction Ceremony for students admitted into its Certificate Programs, marking an important milestone in the University’s commitment to practical education and community service.

The ceremony took place at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Convocation Arena, Thinkers Corner Campus, where students were formally welcomed into programs designed to address real needs in society.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Christian Anieke, explained that the induction ceremony signifies the official admission of students into certificate programs carefully structured to positively impact society. He was represented at the event by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Sergius Udeh.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that the programs reflect the University’s vision of providing education that goes beyond theory to equip people with practical skills that can transform communities. The certificate programs include the Institution of Caregiving Education (ICE), New Evangelization and Research Ministry (NERAM), Mary Agro Institute (MAI), Catholic Institute for Development, Justice and Peace (CIDJAP), and the Music Program.

According to him, the ceremony being the first of its kind demonstrates the university’s growing strength in organizing programs that produce quality outcomes capable of competing globally. He added that the programs are designed to empower young people in agriculture, address the growing demand for professional caregiving, promote evangelization, and encourage advocacy for justice, moral values, and the dignity of the human person.

In their goodwill messages, the directors of the various programs praised the initiative and its impact on community development.

Director of the Institute of Caregiving Education, Prof. Blessing Udeh described the program as a strong platform for community service and encouraged the inductees to use the knowledge they acquire to make meaningful contributions to the lives of others.

The Director of the New Evangelization and Research Ministry, Rev. Fr. Dr. Callistus Anieke also commended the university management for their dedication and teamwork in making the certificate program successful.

Similarly, the Director of the Catholic Institute for Development, Justice and Peace, Rev. Fr. Ambrose Ofordile advised the students to take full advantage of the opportunities the programs offer for personal development and service to society.

Speaking on behalf of the Mary Agro Institute, Rev. Fr. Anthony Agbor represented by the Deputy Director, Rev. Fr. Onyedikachi Chianu expressed confidence that the students would emerge as ambassadors who would promote food sufficiency and create opportunities for youth employment.

The Director of the Music Program, Rev. Fr. Basil Okeke also applauded the university management for introducing programs that combine talent development with service to society.

The highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the induction pledge and declaration of loyalty by the students, officially welcoming them into the Godfrey Okoye University Certificate Programs and marking the beginning of their journey of learning, service, and impact.
