Godfrey Okoye University Hosts Biosafety and Biotechnology Workshop to Address Food Scarcity
Godfrey Okoye University Enugu reaffirmed its commitment to fostering academic and research endeavors with a recent one-day Biosafety and Biotechnology Sensitization workshop for the South-east zone.
In his address, Professor Gozie Ogbodo, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, emphasized the university’s dedication to supporting activities to advance academic and research initiatives. He urged participants to leverage the workshop to explore alternative solutions to tackle Nigeria’s pressing issue of food scarcity.
Expressing concern over the scarcity and escalating costs of food items in the country, Professor Ogbodo underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing this challenge. The workshop provided a platform for scholars from across the globe to present over 15 papers on the significance of Genetically Modified (GM) crops.
The event served as a crucial gathering for stakeholders to delve into the potential of biotechnology and biosafety measures in enhancing food production and security.
