Godfrey Okoye University Hosts Workshop for Academic and Senior Administrative Staff, Welcomes Mentorship Partnership with LUX Mundi University
At the Peter Mbah Law Auditorium in Thinkers Corner, a significant milestone was marked as the academic staff and senior administrative officers of Godfrey Okoye University gathered for a workshop. The event featured Professor Gabriel Okenwa, the Proprietor and Pro-Chancellor of LUX Mundi University, who proudly acknowledged that having Godfrey Okoye University as a mentor university is “a design ordained by God.”
Prof. Gabriel Okenwa emphasized the immense value of this mentorship program, approved by the Nigerian University Commission, highlighting that LUX Mundi, the first private university in the capital of Abia State, has much to gain from Godfrey Okoye University. He expressed hope that the partnership would enable LUX Mundi to emulate the rapid geometric growth of its mentor.
Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Rev. Father Professor Christian Anieke, assured that Godfrey Okoye University would provide a perfect mentoring guide for LUX Mundi to ensure its rapid growth. He also urged staff members to adopt an entrepreneurial approach to teaching, which he believes brings out the best in students.
Prof. Anieke also shared his visions for the 2024/2025 academic session, including attracting more international students, expanding the College of Medicine to include pharmacy and medical laboratory programs, greater investment in the Directorate of Competitions, and increasing undergraduate student enrollment.
Workshop Facilitator & Dean of Faculty of Education, Professor Ekene Osuji, delivered a presentation on “Teaching Entrepreneurially: Empowering Innovation and Creativity.” He defined entrepreneurial teaching as a creative approach that fosters an entrepreneurial mindset in students, preparing them to think outside the box and face practical situations effectively.
The workshop also saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities and the presentation of souvenirs by Prof. Okenwa and his team to Rev. Father Prof. Anieke.
