GODFREY OKOYE UNIVERSITY MATRICULATES 1093 STUDENTS.
Godfrey Okoye University fondly called God’s Own University has on Friday, 27 January 2023 matriculated a total of 1093 students into her undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the 2022/ 2023 academic session.
The event which took place at the Hon. Justice Cordelia Chukwurah convocation arena, Go Uni Thinkers Corner Campus began with the Holy Mass at 11:00am. The students at the event swore the oath of matriculation which was witnessed by parents, friends and well-wishers.
In his address, the founding Vice Chancellor of the University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Dr. Christian Anieke (Eb. Mitterkirchen, Austria), who painted three shades of the GoUni identity in line with its vision such as producing graduates who will be outstanding in learning, balanced in character and learning and ready to pursue epistemic unity in all its ramification, charged the students to wear the face and identity of a graduate of GO (a full GO). He reminded the students that there is no room for the barbarism baptized “cultism”, no space for the madness called drug addiction, zero tolerance to prostitution in the form of reprehensible merchandising of the female body, no positive nod to male chauvism and rascality, no welcoming of primitive shouting and insults, and no coming with open arms to lunacy in the form of neopaganism.
“Your university stresses good dressing, civilized communication and gentility. Do the best you can to make all these, part of your life. May God bless you as you take this road that will surely make all the difference,” continued the Vice Chancellor.
Further in his speech, he noted that the clear testimony of the university’s rapid growth is the number of matriculating students: 1093 students. He assured the students that their choice of choosing Godfrey Okoye University among over 200 universities in Nigeria today, will make all the difference.
He noted that: “In the next three, four or five years, you will be painted with the beautiful colours of this university and thus acquire the GO identity, which is pretty unique in our country.”
The Vice Chancellor also congratulated students of the Centre of Practical Skills (COPs) at the main campus of Godfrey Okoye University who are being taught by foreign and Nigerian teachers, with all the students of the centre on fully-funded scholarships. He stated that all students will be getting European trade certification in collaboration with GO uni.
The highlight of the event was the cultural dance presentation, delivering of goodwill messages and cutting of matriculation cake by staff, students and well wishers of the university.
There was also a presentation by the alumni set of 2014. The set who lost one of their members, completed a house and presented it to the wife and parents of the deceased. It was such an emotional moment.
The order of proceedings was duly followed by the Registrar of the University, Dr. Nnamdi N. S. Ene, MNIM, FCAI, after which the Vice Chancellor declared the 14th matriculation of Godfrey Okoye University closed.
