Godfrey Okoye University Produces 4,431 Graduates in 17 Years

Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, has proudly produced 4,431 graduates since its establishment in 2009. During a recent press conference, the Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, announced that 660 graduates would receive their certificates during the 13th Convocation, including 22 first-class degrees. He highlighted that 80% of the graduates are gainfully employed, reflecting the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and student development.

At the press conference, the Vice-Chancellor shared updates on the university’s steady growth. He noted the excellent performance of the College of Medicine, which is among the few with a Teaching Hospital with significant patient load. He also announced that the university’s DNA Centre, the fifth in the world, as well as an oxygen production centre, would be inaugurated before the end of the year.

Further developments include the upgrade of the Department of Computer Science to a Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, ensuring students receive top-quality education in emerging fields. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that ethical principles guide student life and that no student is allowed to engage in unethical behaviour on campus. Strategic measures have also been put in place to protect students, staff, and university facilities.

Expressing concern over the exclusion of private universities from the Federal Government’s Education Loan Fund, Reverend Father Professor Anieke called for fairness, stating, “I am in a country that needs salvation. This is discrimination in giving grants to universities. We need to get things right so that the nation will move forward.”

In his remarks, the Director of Communication, Reverend Father Benjamin Achi, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for providing opportunities for the youth to grow morally, physically, and intellectually.
