Double Victory for GOUNI at the Youth Day Speech Open International Tournament
Godfrey Okoye University is thrilled to announce the outstanding performance of our students at the Youth Day Speech Open International Tournament. Competing against a diverse pool of elite speakers and adjudicators from various countries, GOUNI participants dominated the rankings, proving their mettle in public speaking, critical thinking, and international adjudication.
The university recorded remarkable achievements as follows:
Ojiako Amarachi Judith (J-Train) – Emerged as the overall Best Judge of the Tournament.
Tikue Arinze – Secured the position of 3rd Best Judge.
Egbogu Favour Ogechukwu– Ranked as the 6th Best Speaker.
Ibezim Samuel– Ranked as the 7th Best Speaker.

Excellence Extended: Pro-Am Debate Tournament 2026
Building on this momentum, the university community also celebrates our impactful participation at the Pro-Am Debate Tournament 2026. This prestigious African-level debating championship was hosted by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Debate Club and featured a unique format pairing seasoned professional speakers with emerging debaters from across Africa to foster mentorship and high-level intellectual exchange.
Representing the university on the African circuit, Chinedu-Ogbonna Donald contributed significantly to the competitive and adjudication processes of the championship.
Notably, Chinedu-Ogbonna Donald emerged as the 3rd Best Judge of the Tournament, further distinguishing the university’s adjudication strength at the continental level and strengthening GOUNI’s visibility within the African debating ecosystem.
