GODFREY OKOYE UNIVERSITY TO LAUNCH A RESEARCH TRUST FUND
Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu is to launch a robust Research Trust Fund that will promote research activities in the institution.The Vice Chancellor of the university, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke announced this while addressing the students and staff of the institution.The Vice Chancellor was optimistic that the project would receive the support of industrialists and investors.Reverend Father Professor Anieke said that a College of Practical Skills would be established for the training of the students on ways to create jobs and be employers of labour.“We are training you for the world and you should see the world as your landscape, the Vice Chancellor charged the students”.Reverend Father Professor Anieke said the institution had received requests to send 25 persons with electrical skills for further training in foreign partner institutions.He urged the students to engage themselves meaningfully during their long vacation and learn things that would help them in life.The Priest enjoined the students to be security conscious always and avoid unnecessary movements and activities that would implicate them.
“You should attach yourself to a professional that would guide you practically in your chosen areas of study, stressing that “this is the reason for the establishment of the Scholars’ Center for Commerce and Industry in the university”, he said.In a comment, the Registrar of the university, Dr. Nnamdi N.S. Ene warned the students against examination malpractices and wished them success in their examinations.In their remarks, the Deans of the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Professor Sergius Udeh and that of Natural and Environmental Studies, Associate Professor Marian Unachukwu urged the students to comport themselves in an orderly manner during their examinations and expressed their readiness to conduct hitch-free examinations.Also speaking the Dean Faculty of Education, Dr. Mrs. Vero Mogbo reminded the students that they are the future leaders and ambassadors of the university who are expected to change the world.In a comment, the Dean Faculty of Law, Professor Gozie Ogbodo noted that the second semester examinations provides opportunity for students to improve on their academic performance and reminded the students that the university has zero tolerance for examination malpractices.According to Professor Ogbodo, the Faculty of law library of the university has extended its services to Saturdays and Sundays to ensure that the students have extra time and place for study and research.Godwin UmehAg.
