GOU FMSS REWARDS 12 OUTSTANDING STAFF DURING THEIR END-OF-YEAR GET-TOGETHER

The Faculty of Management and Social Sciences (FMSS), Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, has rewarded twelve academic and administrative staff members for their meritorious, committed, and selfless service to the faculty and the University at large.

At the end-of-year get-together of the faculty, the Dean, Dr. John Odo (Associate Professor) announced the award recipients, describing the gesture as a celebration of dedication, excellence, and sustained leadership.

The Committed Academic Pillars of the Faculty Award was presented to:

Professor Sergius Udeh (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration)
Professor Mrs. Modesta Egiyi (Bursar, Godfrey Okoye University)
Reverend Father Professor Paul Obayi
Professor T. F. I. Nwanne
Reverend Father Professor Chinedu Nnebedum
Professor Jonny Eluka

Other award recipients include:

Dr. Michael Nwosu – Most Committed Academic Staff
Mrs. Chioma Ozokonkwo – Most Committed Administrative Staff
Dr. Mrs. Queendaline Uwakwe – Most Committed Committee Member (2024/2025 Session)
Dr. John Odo (Associate Professor) – Outstanding Scholar and Best Performing Head of Department (2024/2025 Session)

The Dean highlighted notable achievements of the faculty, including producing the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), the University Bursar, the Best Graduate, and the Vice-Chancellor for One Day for the 2024/2025 academic session. He also noted the faculty’s victories in the Vice-Chancellor’s Football Cup and the University Basketball Cup.

Dr. Odo emphasized that the six professors honoured as Academic Pillars have consistently served as beacons of excellence, contributing significantly to the faculty’s leadership position within the university.

In her remarks, the Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Peace Ike commended the Dean for his leadership and praised the award recipients for their commitment to duty. Similarly, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Sergius Udeh, acknowledged the faculty’s outstanding performance in staff assessments and encouraged others to remain diligent, assuring them that opportunities for promotion abound.

The event also featured a pick-and-win session, distribution of three litres of cooking oil to every staff member, and the presentation of a book titled “Sam Ugwuozor, the Philosopher, Technocrat” in honour of Professor Sam Ugwuozor, who recently marked his 70th birthday.

In his closing remarks, the Dean appreciated all attendees, especially the Registrar and the Director of the Directorate of Care Giving, Dr. Blessing Udeh (Associate Professor), and prayed for God’s protection over members of the faculty during and after the festive period.
