Day Four of the 13th Convocation Ceremony of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu was dedicated to celebrating the remarkable talents and creativity of our students. It was an inspiring showcase of skills, passion, and originality, reaffirming the university’s commitment to nurturing excellence beyond academics.
The winners of the Talent and Creativity Competition were rewarded with generous cash prizes courtesy of the Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, who graced the event as the Special Guest of Honour.
Students demonstrated exceptional abilities across diverse categories, including art, cultural and foreign dances, oratory, public speaking, fashion parade, singing, and eating competitions—featured under individual, group, and faculty performances.
In the faculty dance competition:
1st Place: Faculty of Computing and Information Technology – ₦100,000
2nd Place: Faculty of Management and Social Sciences – ₦70,000
3rd Place: Faculty of Law – ₦50,000
4th Place: Faculty of Natural Sciences and Environmental Studies
5th Place: Faculty of Education
6th Place: Faculty of Arts
For overall performances, the GOU Dance Forum claimed first position, while the GOUNI Cultural Dance Group and De Aura Fashion came second.
In recognition of the outstanding performance of the Cultural Dance Group, the Vice-Chancellor announced that the university management would provide all necessary costumes for the group.
Reverend Father Professor Anieke emphasized that Creativity Day is designed to highlight the non-academic strengths of students, while the entire Convocation Week celebrates those who have successfully completed their studies.
The event attracted notable personalities, including the former Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area, Mr. Chukwudi Ezinwa, alongside principal officers, deans, and professors of the university.
