Godfrey Okoye University continues to make its mark on the global stage as Mr. Christopher Chidiebere Uwakwe, Director of Entrepreneurship and Coordinator of the Student Training for Entrepreneurial Promotion Sustainability (STEP S), represented both Nigeria and the University at the prestigious DAAD Global Symposium on “Global Responsibility Local Impact: Higher Education Partnerships for the SDGs,” held in Cape Town, South Africa, from 13 to 17 October 2025.
At the symposium, Mr. Uwakwe served as Chair of the Working Group on “Innovation and Employment Shaping the Future Together,” alongside Prof. Elspeth Webster from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. Together, they explored how universities can drive innovation, employment, and sustainable local development through strategic partnerships with business, government, and civil society.
He also contributed to several high level discussions on local impact, equitable partnerships, and scaling sustainable change, while showcasing Godfrey Okoye University’s model of entrepreneurship and sustainability education as a case study in transforming ideas into real social impact.

Through his participation, Godfrey Okoye University once again reaffirmed its leadership in sustainable education, entrepreneurship development, and impactful university community collaboration in Africa and beyond.
