GOUNI Hosts Launch of Center for Experiential Learning and Innovation Mentoring Institute

Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, today 11th December 2025, hosted the official launch of the Center for Experiential Learning and Innovation (CELI) Mentoring Institute, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at strengthening experiential learning across Enugu State’s Smart Green Schools.

Held at the Peter Mbah Auditorium, the event brought together 34 education professionals from schools, government bodies, and international partner institutions.

The Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Sergius Udeh officially launched the Institute. He emphasized the transformative power of experiential learning and reaffirmed the university’s dedication to innovation, research, and learner-centered education, key pillars for the success of the state’s 260 Smart Green Schools.

The launch featured sessions led by a distinguished team of facilitators:

Dr. Mara Huber – University at Buffalo, USA

Prof. Ndubueze Mbah – Honourable Commissioner for Education, Enugu State

Rev. Br. Prof. Gregory Ekene Osuji, fms – Dean, Faculty of Arts and Education, Godfrey Okoye University

Participants engaged in hands-on activities, peer collaboration, and practical demonstrations designed to deepen their understanding of experiential teaching and mentoring.

This launch also marks the start of a weeklong training programme that will equip educators to support the statewide rollout of experiential learning, develop PEARL-aligned projects, and build strong mentoring communities within their schools.
