GoUni Set for the 13th Convocation Ceremony!

As preparations for the 13th Convocation continue, the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, encouraged the university community to engage fully in the week’s activities and make the most of this moment of celebration.

In his address to staff and students, he highlighted the significance of Convocation Week in the life of the institution and urged everyone to join in the events, noting that active participation enhances the vibrancy and success of the celebrations.

According to the official schedule, the Convocation activities will begin on Sunday, 30th November, with a Holy Mass at the Justice Cordelia Chukwurah Convocation Arena by 10 a.m. Monday is Competition Day, while the annual GOUNI Marathon will hold on Tuesday at 7 a.m., followed by a news briefing at the Ugwuomu Nike main campus.

Hall of Fame and Convocation Lecture, featuring the conferment of Emeritus Professor and the investiture of new Professors

Convocation Day, where the university will formally award degrees and certificates

The Vice-Chancellor announced cash prizes for the marathon winners: ₦500,000 for first place, ₦200,000 for second place, and ₦100,000 for third. He also revealed that 653 graduates, comprising 65 postgraduate and 588 undergraduate students, will receive their certificates during the Convocation.

The Vice-Chancellor received Ekwelem Chisom Laura, a 200-level Law student who emerged among the 26 finalists selected from over 100,000 entries in the National Essay Competition hosted by Abuja City Journals and sponsored by FIRS and KAPEK. She presented her medal to the Vice-Chancellor. In her remarks, the Director of Competitions, Mrs. Uchanta Chukwu, commended Laura for her outstanding achievement and added that Godfrey Okoye University making it to the grand finale among thousands of scripts is a testament to the quality of the university.

During the event, the Vice-Chancellor also swore in the newly elected Executives of the Council of Honour. Later in the evening, a dinner was held in honour of the newly sworn-in members of the Council of Honour.
