GOUNI VC Champions Skill Development at Ezeagu Youth Empowerment Launch

The Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, has charged young people to embrace hard work and skill acquisition as the surest path to sustainable success.

Speaking as Chairman of the occasion at the official launch of the ₦100 million Youth Empowerment Programme of the Ezeagu in Diaspora International Association (EDIA) at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, the Vice Chancellor praised the resilience of the Ezeagu people but cautioned against the lure of “quick money.” He reminded the beneficiaries that “money without hard work disappears,” urging them to remain focused on building lasting livelihoods through vocational, agricultural, digital, technical, and sporting skills.

The event also featured inspiring contributions from Dr. Kingsley Eze, Managing Director of Tenece Professional Services Limited, who emphasized the power of ideas and innovation; Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Secretary to the State Government, who linked the initiative to Enugu’s prosperity agenda; and John-Mary Aniagolu, President of EDIA, who outlined the association’s broader vision for empowering Ezeagu youths.

Through this initiative, 500 youths between 18 and 30 will be trained in trades that will position them for economic growth and global competitiveness.

Fr. Prof. Anieke’s message was a call to the youths to embrace resilience and creativity, reminding them that true prosperity comes from skills and hard work, not shortcuts.
