The Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke has described veteran media icon Chief Chika Okpala, popularly known as Chief Zebrudaya, as a true icon whose impactful legacy deserves to be celebrated and studied by younger generations.

The renowned entertainer expressed his continuous desire to partner with and promote the institution during a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor at the Thinkers Corner Campus in Enugu. He was accompanied by the university’s SSA on Culture, Ozor Dr. Ferdinand Aniekwe.

While presenting a copy of his new book, titled The Man and the Legend of the New Masquerade, which documents his extensive works and achievements within and outside the media landscape, Chief Okpala shared his long-standing admiration for the university. He noted that the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and value-based education firmly positions it as a leading higher education institution in Nigeria, and he looks forward to exploring deeper avenues of collaboration to expand its impact.

Responding to the gesture, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke commended Chief Okpala for his profound impact on the entertainment industry. The Vice Chancellor urged academic institutions to understudy the veteran actor’s extensive body of work and conduct research into how he successfully redefined entertainment in Nigeria.

In a strong demonstration of solidarity and support for the upcoming book launch, the Vice Chancellor, on behalf of the university management, launched the book with the sum of 500,000 naira.

Additionally, the university has granted the veteran actor free use of the state-of-the-art Peter Mbah Law Auditorium for the official book launch event, alongside a pledge of continued institutional support.
