Godfrey Okoye University has achieved a historic breakthrough in medical education as the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) officially listed the Godfrey Okoye University Teaching Hospital (GOUNITH) among the approved private teaching hospitals for housemanship training, granting an approved quota of 30 medical house officers.
This national recognition follows the university’s earlier success in securing full accreditation for its College of Medicine from the National Universities Commission (NUC). In Nigerian higher education, achieving both milestones in swift succession is a rare feat, one that guarantees pioneer medical students complete their degrees and transition directly into housemanship without administrative delays or academic bottlenecks.
