A highly accomplished biochemist, molecular diagnostics expert, and global researcher, Prof. Engwa’s academic journey spans Cameroon, Nigeria, South Africa, and France, reflecting a career defined by excellence, innovation, and international impact. His research focuses on molecular diagnostics, medical biotechnology, and cardiometabolic disease risk in African populations, with strong applications in both public health and industrial biotechnology.
Prof. Engwa is a recipient of the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship of the European Commission and a former award-winning Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Walter Sisulu University, South Africa. His work has contributed significantly to advances in disease diagnostics, biotechnology product development, and translational research aimed at improving health outcomes.
With over 80 scientific publications, thousands of citations, multiple competitive international grants, and a strong record of teaching and mentorship, Prof. Engwa has made remarkable contributions to scholarship at Godfrey Okoye University and beyond.
His elevation to the rank of Professor of Biochemistry is a recognition of his outstanding research, global engagements, and dedicated service to the University and the scientific community.
