NEW IGWE AND LOLO OF GOUNI-IECE CROWNED!

Solomon Chiwetalu, a 200-level physics student, has been crowned the new Igwe of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu and the Institute of Ecumenical Education, Enugu. This remarkable event was the highlight of this year’s CULTURAL DAY of the Unity Week, organized by the Students Council of Honours.

During the celebration, the Lolo and members of the traditional council of the institutions were also installed.

Vice-Chancellor Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke announced the winners of various cultural competitions:

Igbo ethnic group: Overall best prize in cooking, costumes, organization, and dance performances (N100,000)

Yoruba group: Best in organization (N20,000)

Hausa representatives: Best food prize (N20,000)

Tiv group: Best music and dance prize (N20,000)

Effik group: Best in costumes (N20,000)

The event was part of our university’s effort to promote Nigeria’s rich culture, food, and dressing. A big thank you to the Dean of Students Affairs, Reverend Father Casmir Nwokolo, for efficiently coordinating the activities and to all the students for their enthusiastic participation.

Reverend Father Professor Anieke also issued a warning that students who absent themselves during the Unity Week will face disciplinary action to serve as a deterrent.

We are proud of our vibrant cultural heritage and the active involvement of our students and staff in making this week a memorable one!
