New Mr. & Miss Godfrey Okoye University Crowned!
It was a day of glamour, grace, and celebration as Thompson Okoro, a 200-level Mass Communication student, and Victoria Ufomadu, a 200-level International Relations student, emerged as the new Mr. and Miss Godfrey Okoye University Enugu 2025.
The event, which was part of this year’s Students’ Unity Week Pageantry and Costume Day, began with a colourful showcase of creative costumes ranging from traditional wear to modern and imaginative designs. It was more than a beauty contest; it was a vibrant celebration of culture, intellect, and talent.
Thompson outperformed seven other contestants to clinch the Mr. GO title, while Victoria triumphed over two strong contenders to be crowned Miss GO. Both attributed their victory to the grace of God.
The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, who announced the winners, commended all contestants for their spirit of sportsmanship and encouraged the wider student body to participate actively in university life, stressing that the management would not tolerate indifference or laxity.
Adding more colour and prestige to the event were dignitaries including the Enugu State Tourism Board, Dame Rita Mbah, the Commissioner of Police, and Mr. Emmanuel Okoh (popularly known as Okwulora), a proud alumnus of the university.
In a remarkable gesture, Mr. Okoh awarded ₦100,000 cash prizes to four outstanding students and granted a final year tuition scholarship to a 100-level Law student.
Beyond the crowning of the new royals, the event featured runway modelling, musical performances, dancing, and a variety of entertaining showcases that kept the audience thoroughly engaged.
At Godfrey Okoye University, excellence goes beyond academics, it’s about nurturing confidence, creativity, and community.
