
Brilliance Rewarded with a Scholarship! Esther Ani tops 600 entries to emerge as the winner of the Echoing Grace Poetry Competition (VC’s Jubilee Poetry Competition).
Ani Esther Onyinyechi of the Institute of Ecumenical Education, Thinkers Corner Enugu, has emerged winner of the prestigious Echoing Grace Poetry Competition, organized by the Directorate of Competitions in honour of the Silver Jubilee Anniversary of the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University.
Esther’s brilliance earned her the star prize of ₦100,000 and a full scholarship announced by the Vice-Chancellor himself, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, during an address to staff and final year students of the university.
Aguigwo Gerald Somtochukwu from the College of Medicine clinched 2nd place with a ₦50,000 prize, while Ndulue Princess Chiamaka from the Biotechnology department came in 3rd, taking home ₦25,000.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed deep appreciation for the quality of the entries, the show of love from the university community, and the unwavering support for the institution’s programmes and policies. As a gesture of gratitude, every staff member received a gift from him.
Director of Competitions, Mrs. Uchanta Chukwu shared that over 600 entries were received and thoroughly reviewed through a rigorous 3-stage screening process. She encouraged students to keep participating in such contests, both within and outside the university, as platforms to showcase their creativity and excellence.
Indeed, it was a moment of poetry, pride, and purpose.
