Final Year Thanksgiving Like No Other!
Godfrey Okoye University held a heartwarming Thanksgiving Holy Mass in honor of its Final-Year Students, marking the culmination of their academic journey with prayers, blessings, and a joyful celebration.
The Mass also served to officially round off the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, a deeply reflective series of events held in gratitude for 25 years of priestly service and impactful leadership. It was a powerful atmosphere of thanksgiving, not just for academic milestones, but also for the divine grace and guidance that the students had received throughout their time at the university.
In his homily, the Vice-Chancellor reminded the students that earthly wealth without knowing God is vanity, urging them to focus on a life of purpose, faith, and service.
The event was graced by notable personalities, including the former Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Chief Mrs. Cecília Ezeilo, Pro-Chancellor Professor Christian Okeke, Urban Radio CEO Chike Madueke, friends of the university from Austria, and the Dean of Student Affairs, Reverend Father Casmir Nwokolo, who came to support and celebrate with the graduating students.
After the Holy Mass, a lively Thanksgiving Lunch followed, complete with intercontinental dishes, music, and dancing. The celebration reached a fun peak when the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences won ₦100,000 for best dance performance, while the Faculty of Law took home ₦50,000 for their vibrant vibes .
As part of the Silver Jubilee commemorations, over 100 coconut trees were planted on the Ugwuomu Nike campus , a symbol of legacy and growth. Also, in the spirit of giving back, GOUNI alumni sponsored WAEC fees for 34 secondary school students, a touching tribute to the values instilled by the institution.
