From Podium to Glory! GoUni’s talents storm the ANYDC stage, debate, adjudication, and public speaking in one sweep.
It was an outing to remember as Godfrey Okoye University made a resounding statement at the 2025 edition of the All Nigerian Youth Debate Championship (ANYDC), hosted by the prestigious University of Benin from April 4th to 8th.
Our students displayed exceptional talent, courage, and mastery of the spoken word, competing fiercely with other top universities across the country.
In the Novice Category, the Ivigbioson Eson team emerged as the Second-Best Team a remarkable feat that stands as a testament to the quality of training and dedication of our young debaters. The team, made up of Aguigwo Gerald and Cos-Anyikwa Chidera, impressed all the way to the finals, securing a top-two finish.
Three of our teams also broke into the semi-finals in the debate category:
Ore Uzama, represented by Adibo Tiffany Chiemelie and Donald Ogbonna
Ivigbioson Eson, represented by Aguigwo Gerald and Cos-Anyikwa Chidera
Ere Igue, represented by Egbogu Favour and Njemanze Chiamaka
In adjudication, Godfrey Okoye University’s own Ekeh Anthony Emmanuel proudly clinched Third Place in the Novice Adjudication category a stellar accomplishment.
The Public Speaking segment was equally thrilling, as Egbogu Favour and Rev. Sister Onwuka Vivian broke into the Semi-finals, adding yet another feather to our already decorated cap.
Once again, Godfrey Okoye University has proven itself a powerhouse in competitive speaking a university where talent is nurtured, voices are refined, and excellence is the standard.
Upon their return, the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, received the debating team in his office. He praised them for their outstanding performance and for how far they advanced in the tournament. He also extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Director of Competitions, Mrs. Uchanta Chukwu, commending her tireless efforts and unwavering commitment in pushing GoUni to national limelight.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the entire team for the medals they brought home, affirming the University’s continuous support for excellence and talent development.
We are proud of every single representative who carried our banner with pride and brilliance.
Congratulations to our teams, their coaches, and the Directorate of Competitions for this incredible showing.
