True leaders give back! Peter Obi donates ₦20 million to GO University Teaching Hospital

Today, May 6, 2025, the former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi visited Godfrey Okoye University Teaching Hospital, Enugu, and delivered more than just a speech. He delivered hope.

Speaking to staff and students, Mr. Obi lamented the neglect of the welfare of Nigerians by those in leadership. He decried the abandonment of key responsibilities, which he said has fueled poverty and worsened child malnutrition. “If Nigeria must progress,” he declared, “we must dismantle this corrupt system.”

He encouraged the students to take their studies seriously, particularly in the health sciences, emphasizing the global need for quality professionals. In a remarkable show of commitment, he donated twenty million naira to support the hospital.

The event was graced by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Most Rev. Dr. Callistus Onaga, who hailed Mr. Obi for his consistent acts of charity and called on more Nigerians to use their resources to uplift humanity.

In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, commended Mr. Obi’s enduring relationship with the university, assuring that the institution would continue to honour and reciprocate his goodwill.

At a time when many leaders turn away, Peter Obi walks in. Not with empty words but with substance and sacrifice.
