As part of the University\u2019s mandate in ensuring compliance with the National Universities Commissions (NUC) Minimum Academic Standards, the leading private university in South Eastern Nigeria \u2013Godfrey Okoye University conducted a one day curriculum workshop to train its Academic Staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop which is tagged \u201cThe Future of Higher Education\u201d held on 7 October 2022 at the university\u2019s auditorium in order to kick start the 2022\/2023 Academic Session.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Very Rev. Dr. Prof. Christian Anieke (who is now known as the only entrepreneurial vice chancellor in the universe) alongside the other principal members of the university were in attendance. The workshop commenced with an opening speech said by the Vice Chancellor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Chinedu Anthony -Director of ICT<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Director of ICT Godfrey Okoye University, Mr. Chinedu Anthony, trained the Academic Staff on aligning their course outlines and research with that of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG\u2019s). He focused on the trajectory of where the University is now to where the University should be in 2030 (Vision 2030). That the teachers ought to be change makers since the university is the hope of Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Christopher Uwakwe -Director of Entrepreneurship <\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0The second speaker Mr. Christopher Uwakwe \u2013Director of Entrepreneurship, trained the Academic Staff on developing entrepreneurial curriculum. That the Academic Staff must outline their courses to solve problems. He stressed on changing the mindset of the students from job seekers to job creators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Amaka Chime<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The last speaker Mrs. Amaka Chime an academic staff and a STEP trainer, spoke on opportunity identification skills. That the academic staff ought to be creative in identifying opportunities and mastering the confidence to take risk that would lead the students in becoming empowered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training ended with a serious exercise carried out by the Academic staff. The Academic Staff were told to present their course outline for the session according to their departments. The said course outline which was scrutinized by the Vice Chancellor upon presentation, must reflect new areas that would give the students skills to empower themselves even while in school and upon graduation. This exercise was done to ensure that the training was effectively practicalised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
