NUC Commends Godfrey Okoye University at STEP-S Workshop!
The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian University Commission, Mr. Chris Maiyaki, has praised Godfrey Okoye University for its exceptional contributions to entrepreneurial education in Nigeria. This recognition was delivered by Dr. Ashafa Laden, Director of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, during the STEP-S Workshop held yesterday at the Peter Mbah Law Auditorium, Thinker’s Corner, Enugu.
In his address, Prof. Christian Okeke, Pro-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, warmly welcomed all partners and participants, while expressing gratitude to the NUC for their continued support. He assured the Vice Chancellor that the Governing Council is fully committed to supporting his initiatives and vision for the university.
Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, highlighted the university’s dedication to entrepreneurship as a core focus. He emphasized their ongoing collaboration with both national and international institutions, particularly in the STEP-S Projects that are people-oriented, environmentally friendly, and profit-focused, aiming to address unemployment and poverty in Nigeria.
Mr. Obi Ozor, Commissioner for Transportation in Enugu State, represented by Mrs. Ifeoma, echoed the sentiment by applauding the STEPS Project for its alignment with the state government’s youth empowerment policies aimed at eradicating poverty.
Mr. Christopher Uwakwe, Director of the STEPS Project at Godfrey Okoye University, provided an overview of the workshop, which runs from 23rd to 29th September.
Prof. Michael Gielink from Leuphana University, Germany, shared his insights via Zoom, stressing the importance of collaboration among partner universities. Meanwhile, Dr. Anyway Mikoni (University of Venda, South Africa) and Mr. Bonface Joel Malala (Mount Kenya University) commended Godfrey Okoye University for its hospitality and urged participants to embrace this unique training opportunity to reshape Africa’s entrepreneurial future.
