PenGold 2.0 Champion: Onyeachonam Precious of Nursing Science takes the top prize.

The 17th Matriculation Ceremony of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, was not only a moment of welcoming new students but also an opportunity to celebrate excellence and creativity among the university community.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of awards to the winners of the second edition of the PenGold Calligraphic Competition, organized by the Directorate of Competitions. The competition, which was open to all first-year students of Godfrey Okoye University, showcased the beauty of handwriting, creativity, and attention to detail.

At the end of a rigorous selection process, three outstanding students emerged as winners.

Okafor Kamsiyochukwu of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery secured the Second Runner-Up position, while Nebo Emmanuel, an Economics student from the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, emerged as the First Runner-Up. Onyeachonam Precious of the Department of Nursing Science emerged as the overall winner of the competition.

The winners were presented with cash prizes and certificates, with N50,000 awarded to the overall winner, N30,000 to the first runner-up, and N20,000 to the second runner-up.

The awards were presented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Sergius Udeh, during the matriculation ceremony. The presentation served as a symbolic way of introducing the newly admitted students to the competitive culture and tradition of excellence that defines Godfrey Okoye University.

During the award presentation, the Director of Competitions, Mrs. Uchanta Chukwu revealed that the selection process was highly competitive. Out of over  700 submitted scripts, the winners emerged after three rigorous phases of screening conducted by handwriting experts.

The PenGold Calligraphic Competition continues to encourage students to develop discipline, creativity, and attention to detail while reinforcing the university’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting healthy competition among its students.
