Kaitlin Chimdindu Gee-Akwada graduated in 2022 with First Class Honours in English and Literary Studies from Godfrey Okoye University. She distinguished herself not only academically but also in leadership, earning the rare honour of serving as Vice Chancellor for One Day after attaining a perfect CGPA of 5.00 in her third year. She describes this achievement as “a moment of faith and discipline—spoken into existence, then achieved through consistency and focus.”
During her undergraduate years, Kaitlin published her debut poetry collection, Echoes, which received critical acclaim. The Vice Chancellor, who wrote the foreword, described the work as “a beautiful narrative in verse and prose to all who desire to read something as refreshing as breezes on a hot summer afternoon.” She also founded Girls Arise, a mentorship initiative supporting girls with absent fathers by amplifying their stories and fostering resilience.
Kaitlin’s career reflects her passion for communication and storytelling. She currently serves as a Corporate Communication Executive at Polo Luxury, Nigeria’s foremost luxury goods company. In this role, she has led high-impact projects, most notably the Polo Power Woman Campaign for International Women’s Day 2024. The campaign profiled 20 influential women—including Adenike Ogunlesi (Creative Director, Ruff ‘n’ Tumble), Prof. Enase Okonedo (Vice Chancellor, Pan-Atlantic University), and Hansatu Adegbite (then Executive Director, WIMBIZ)—and was lauded for amplifying women’s voices and redefining Polo Luxury’s brand narrative.
Beyond the corporate sphere, Kaitlin is a feature writer at BellaNaija, where she explores themes of personal development, confidence, and lifestyle. Her enduring love for literature continues to inspire her writing and research; her undergraduate thesis examined violence in Martina McGowan’s I Am the Rage.
Currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration at Miva Open University, Kaitlin views public administration as a platform to refine leadership, serve her community, and influence policy. She envisions herself as a future policymaker dedicated to crafting solutions that uplift society and prioritize the ordinary citizen.
Anchored by values of loyalty, honesty, empathy, and consideration, Kaitlin balances her professional life with personal passions for music, poetry, and nature. She describes herself as an ambivert who finds strength in both reflection and spontaneity. At her core, she believes that communication goes beyond words—it is about creating impact, building connections, and inspiring change.
