The Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, has reiterated the importance of prayer in the life of every student, urging them to cultivate a more prayerful lifestyle, which he described as a vital ingredient for achieving academic excellence.

The Vice-Chancellor made these remarks while addressing staff and final-year students during the university’s common midday prayer held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Convocation Arena, Thinkers Corner Campus, Enugu.

The priest emphasized the need for students to imbibe a prayerful life, noting that its benefits are enormous. According to him, a consistent prayer life helps to smooth one’s earthly journey and attracts God’s blessings, which are essential for success both academically and in life.

Rev. Fr. Prof. Anieke also announced that the Thanksgiving Mass for final-year students has been rescheduled to hold on July 19, 2026. He explained that the adjustment was made to accommodate the university’s final-year examination timetable and project defence schedule. The Vice-Chancellor stressed that attendance at the Thanksgiving Mass is compulsory for all final-year students, warning that neither lateness nor absenteeism will be tolerated.

He further reminded the students to ensure they complete their financial clearance and cautioned them against inflating their clearance fees. He described such practices as contrary to the moral and ethical standards upheld by Godfrey Okoye University.

Prof. Anieke also underscored the importance of students’ participation in the university’s convocation ceremony and related events, describing the occasion as the climax of their academic journey and a celebration of their achievements.
