Day Two of the Convocation Week was dedicated to celebrating the creativity, intelligence, and talent that define Godfrey Okoye University.

The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the DVC Administration, Prof. Serguis Udeh declared the Directorate of Competition Day open. He emphasized the need for students to showcase their gifts in every field of human endeavour and explained that the Directorate of Competitions was created to harness the talents and abilities of GOUNI students in all aspects. He further highlighted that the university has won numerous laurels in different competitions over the past year, a testament to the strength and potential of its students.

In her remarks, the Director of Competitions, Mrs. Uchanta Chukwu praised the Vice-Chancellor for always creating initiatives that are truly out of the box, one of which is the establishment of the Directorate of Competitions. She stressed that Godfrey Okoye University is the only university in Nigeria with such a Directorate, a clear demonstration of the Vice-Chancellor’s innovation and commitment to student development. She also appreciated the dedication and zeal of GOUNI students who continue to represent the university with distinction. According to her, in just one year of the Directorate’s existence, Godfrey Okoye University has carried its banner across the nation and beyond continents.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates and prize money to the winners by the DVC Administration, Professor Sergius Udeh. The ceremony also featured the unveiling of the DICOM Brooch and T-shirts, as well as special awards presented to the heroes and heroine of DICOM by students of Godfrey Okoye University Debate Community (GOUNIDC) and the Student Aides of the Directorate.

The COHON President, Emma-Aroh Mmachukwu, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management of Godfrey Okoye University for establishing and supporting this remarkable day.

Later on, the Director of Competitions, the President and the Vice President of GOUNIDC presented the DICOM Brooch, plaque and T-shirt to the Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke.
