STEP 2022 Close Out Session
The Directorate of Entrepreneurship under Godfrey Okoye University successfully concluded its STEP close out session on 9 December 2022. This is the fourth year of successful implementation since its establishment.
In the last 11weeks, the 300level students of Godfrey Okoye University have been undergoing entrepreneurship training in the 2022 Student Training for Entrepreneurial Promotion (STEP) programme. The goal of the STEP training is to develop young people’s skills, knowledge and the confidence to pursue an entrepreneurial career. In the course of the training, students learn important skills across the domains of business administration, psychology and entrepreneurship. These domains put together facilitate the change in the mindset of trainees from job seeker to job creator.
During the Close Out Session, Barr. Juliet Anwadike-Ugwuanyi taught the students the importance of business registration under the Corporate Affairs Commission and the process of business registration under the Nigerian Business Law. This will give the students’ potential customers, the confidence that they are dealing with a reputable business and also gives their business an edge over others.
The Vice Chancellor of GoUni, Rev. Fr. Prof. Dr. Christian Anieke while graduating the 220 student entrepreneurs, reiterated the importance of working hard while leveraging on the entrepreneurship programme to become self employed.
Also, the Director of Entrepreneurship, Chris Uwakwe thanked the student entrepreneurs for exhibiting the discipline to learn and undergo the process of becoming a successful entrepreneur. He further encouraged the students to apply the action principles of STEP in their future ventures.
The 2022 STEP programme came to an end with the graduation of 220 student entrepreneurs who are in the process of registering their businesses with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
