Team Storm Advances in DebateCoolit Tournament!

We are excited to announce that Team Storm, representing Godfrey Okoye University Enugu in the ongoing DebateCoolit tournament sponsored by the Enugu State Government, has qualified for the next stage!

In a fiercely contested knockout debate, Team Storm emerged victorious against Team Spartans from UNN, securing their place in the next round. Congratulations to our incredible debaters!

Team Storm and Team Emerald were the first to qualify for the tournament. Team Emerald will be facing Team Great Lions next week. Let’s show them our full support and encouragement!

The tournament featured an opening speech from the Vice-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology and opening remarks by our very own Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Gozie Ogbodo. Professor Ogbodo emphasized the significance of the debate during these times of national protests due to the economic situation in Nigeria. He urged the youths to embrace the themes of freedom, tolerance, and acceptance.

Mrs Dera Okenwa, the Senior Special Assistant to the Enugu State Governor on Social Culture and Self Development, highlighted the importance of the event in teaching young people how to speak, organize their thoughts, and form opinions. This, in turn, will help them develop ideologies that build social culture, as they are the leaders of tomorrow. Okenwa added that the program aims to sensitize youths on socio-cultural issues, running for ten weeks and debating on social topics.
